For years, I have been a fan of sharing live music.  While some folks call them bootlegs, I prefer the term live concert recordings.  After all, I have never (and will never) make a cent off the music of someone else.  For me, I have met many wonderful people from my years of trading concert CD’s across the country and even world.  For me there is nothing better than being able to relive a live moment I was lucky enough to see (or in some cases not able to see when the show was in lets say France or Hoboken NJ).

Recently, thanks to a wonderful open taping policy by Mr. Trent Reznor, I was able to bring my handheld consumer video camera into one of the final NIN shows here in Southern California.  Because of this laxed policy, I was permitted to video tape the entire performance of his recorded masterpiece “The Downward Spiral” as well as two songs with special guest Gary Numan.  While it is not a pro shot DVD by any stretch of the imagination, the footage came out pretty well considering I was in a mosh pit for over an hour with an expensive video camera raised high above my head (and yes, a month later my arm is still tired).  It also sounds good despite the loud booming PA inside the over packed Hollywood Palladium.

In honor of the spirit of live music trading that I was once such a part of, I have decided to share my NIN Wave Goodbye footage with you.  Having now spent a month on this project, I am glad it’s finally time for you to see it.  So the first 50 U.S. residents (keeping in mind that some of those 50 copies are already gone from our special twitter “pre-giveaway”) who email me their mailing address to concertconfessions@yahoo.com will get a free copy.  But there is a catch:

I find anyone who sells live music to be the foulest of the foul.  Scum of the Earth, slime of the slime, the ultimate fuck tards on the same scale as Hitler, Cheney and Phil Spector.  If you are blessed enough to receive a free copy of this amazing performance, you are welcome to share it free of cost (as I have) to your friends, family etc, but under NO CIRCUMSTANCES is this footage to be sold.  It not only violates the very generous policy of Trent Reznor, it’s just a total douchebag move.  If I find you selling this on EBay or somewhere else, I will hunt you down, chop off your sexual reproduction organs and feed them to Kirstie Alley.  DO NOT SELL THIS FOOTAGE AT ALL!!!!!!!

So with that said, let’s get it on.  The quicker I get your address, the quicker a copy is in the mail to your home (I plan to take the first batch to the post office next week).  I am doing all of this out of my own pocket, because I believe in the power of live music, and I believe in the power of sharing live music with like minded folks.  This month is the one year anniversary of me trying out an experiment on myspace to see if folks would want to share their concert experiences.  It has been a crazy first year, and this is my way of thanking all of you for sharing your tales (or perhaps just reading someone else’s tale).  Big thanks to LADB, Trent Reznor and of course you.  I hope you enjoy this DVD from your pals at concertconfessions.com, and look forward to an epic second year.

Justin (who lied, the arm feels fine)
