The only front porch, whiskey swillin’, foot stompin’, bean can shakin’, gypsy, punk, country, grumble, boogie band in the land Dirtfoot, who have received previous attention on Concert Confessions and will be supporting Primus for five shows in May, are asking for their fans help to fund their newest creation, Dirtfoot: Live and In Prison recorded live and in front of actual prisoners at the Wade Correctional Center in their home state of Louisiana. The band had to undergo background checks to ensure none had felony backgrounds before being allowed to participate….. its nice to know there are no skeletons in the Dirtfoot closet.
The goal is to raise $10,000 in 30 days to finance the production of a live CD and full length DVD featuring a documentary including the performance and short film music video for “Cast My Plans” to be released later this year. Did I mention it stars William Sadler from Shawshank Redemption and Bill and Ted fame as the warden?
For contributing to the project, you are given a special Dirtfoot prize or prize pack, pending on the amount of your donation. You can give as little as $1, but with a $5 donation you will receive a Dirtfoot sticker to show your support. For only $40 you will receive a Dirtfoot Prison T-Shirt and a signed copy of the live CD. Other options include Dirtfoot pirate flags, commemorative golden bean cans, sax-offender Scott Gerardy’s famous gumbo, a private Dirtfoot show, and even the Executive Producer credit on the album if you have $5000 to pony up (also includes Dirtfoot Golden Ticket and all other prizes.)
As a big believer in the Dirtfoot movement, II have been following the progress and they have done very well thus far but still need support! At this time they are at just over $3000 with about 20 days to go until their May 4th deadline. If they dont hit their $10K goal, your money won’t be taken. If they exceed the goal, the additional funds will go towards marketing of Live and In Prison as well as expanding their touring range–meaning you may be shakin’ a bean can with the Dirtfoot boys in the near future.
It was also just announced that Dirtfoot will be joining PRIMUS on a five dates this spring, 5/19 – 5/25. You can also catch them at the Summer Camp Music Festival near Chicago May 27-29 or at the Wakarusa Music Festival in Ozark, Arkansas June 2-5 where they will be kicking the festival off on the main stage Thursday afternoon and closing it down Sunday night, as well as a stripped down set Friday morning at the Chompdown, a communal breakfast put on by festival-goers featuring live music and good vibes, free of charge.
Here are a few live videos to entice you to donate some money and become believers.Click the link at the top or right here for more informaton on the Kickstarter page.
