Shreveport, Louisiana gypsy, punk, country, grumble, boogie band Dirtfoot are taking to the fans to help fund their newest album, literally being recorded as this is being typed at Blade Studios in Shreveport and being produced by Brady Blade.
Dirtfoot is currently in an incredibly exciting evolution stage… it actually began when Nathan Woods joined in 2011 and added electric bass to the mix. Then last Summer longtime drummer Lane Bayliss retired and they picked up a rock drummer by the name of Derek Russell. The next step was the addition of an electric guitar for vocalist/formerly only acoustic guitarist Matt Hazelton. Add in the usual suspects in Scotty Gerardy, the Sax Offender, J Bratlie plucking the banjo, and instrumentalist Daniel Breithaupt and now the gypsy punk county is becoming a dirty funk gypsy punk rock alt-country grumble boogie.
Producer Brady Blade has previously worked with Dave Matthews, Emmylou Harris and Daniel Lanois to name a few. The band has been posting some videos on their Youtube page over the last week featuring in studio updates and even some guests stopping by including 1/2 of Brooks and Dunn, Kix Brooks, and Papa Mali who layed down some nasty electric guitar on “John Zook.”
The Pledge Prizes are pretty amazing this time out and include many items that will be available ONLY via this Kickstarter campaign. There is certainly something for everyone… as little as $20 will get a digital download of the album 2 weeks prior to the official release date. Physical copies start at $40 donation level. Other levels include special limited edition Kickstarter only silk-screen posters, Dirtfoot hoodies, t-shirts, and even your own private Dirtfoot show!
Some of the more unique donation levels can earn you a chance to name the new album, a handwritten lyric sheet by Hazelton, dinner with Dirtfoot, drum heads and signed drum sticks used during the recording of the new album by both Breithaupt and Russell, pieces of Daniel’s percussion rig, and a listening party in Shreveport with the band after the album is completed.
The campaign only lasts 30 days, and after the first five days they have raised just under $3000. Still a long way to go, but based on the success of the last campaign and with YOUR help, the grumble boogie will live on! Contribute NOW!
