Lil Wayne Pulls Record Label Out of Summer Jam At the Last Second
Author’s note: I wanted to go with “Lil Wayne, For the First Time, Pulls Out” or “Lil Wayne Pulls Out at the Last Second” as alternate titles, but figured those were in bad taste. So I’ll leave all the bad taste to the content of this article.
Well, Lil Wayne just did something douchey. Who’da thunk it?
Although we don’t know the full details yet, it appears as though Lil Wayne has pulled his record label Young Money (which also features Nicki Minaj and Drake) out of Summer Jam music festival, a hip hop/pop festival that is held in East Rutherford, New Jersey and sponsored by New York radio station Hot 97. These decisions were made right after Slaughterhouse completed their performance. Hot 97 DJ/On Air Personality Peter Rosenberg said during the Slaughterhouse set “I see the real hip-hop heads sprinkled in here.. I know there’s some chicks here waiting to see the Starships later , I ain’t talking to ya’ll right now fuck that bullshit!”.

This year, rapper/singer/possible witch Nicki Minaj was scheduled to not only play, but to headline. Then her puppet master, the always intelligible Lil Wayne Tweeted “Young Money ain’t doing Summer Jam,” thus pulling Minaj out of the festival as well as Drake and “Rack City” rapper Tyga, who was apparently still performing as this is being penned.
Young Money ain’t doing summer jam.

I would post on here what Nicki Minaj tweeted, but reading it will give you a headache, and requires some sort of translator. Apparently there is also beef between Lil Wayne and rapper Pusha T, the latter of which may show up as a surprise guest.
The Biggest DJ/On Air Personality at Hot 97, Funkmaster Flex tweeted this around 9PM:
I will deal with her when i step on that stage to tear this place down!!!

Funkmaster Flex performed DJ set full of subliminal shots at Minaj, Lil Wayne and “commercial artists”. He said “We’re done with booking commercial artists! You ain’t make it in the streets, you ain’t makin’ it here!” Also adding later on: “You thought THIS record didn’t sell??” Besides continuing to remind us to tune in at 7PM tomorrow to Hot 97 where he will “Begin to end careers”.
At 10PM, Nas was brought out to perform for about a half hour. Nas delivered from what was seen on the stream, holding a 40 ounce in hand, looking wasted as all hell, still held it down That’s your performance highlight of Summerjam 2012, he absolutely saved this show when “Made You Look”. Anyway joining him midway through the set was Ms Lauryn Hill (of Fugees and being late to shows, fame). Before 11 French Montana came out for his set. He’s a member of MMG (Maybach Music Group), which is headed by Rick Ross. After a cameo from Mase, It wasn’t long before Rick Ross was brought out as well as Meek Mill and the rest of the MMG crew-counted lots of people on stage. Big Sean (who performed earlier) came out somewhere during the melee , and to close down the set RZA, Method Man and Raekwon(fun fact: Jay Porks got an autograph from Raekwon on his birthday 12 years ago) of Wu Tang were brought out on stage to do “C.R.E.A.M.” to close out the night.
