Soundgarden Unleash King Animal on The Ed Sullivan Theater Live on Letterman
We’re going to change things up tonight and post some Soundgarden stuff, it’s not like they’ve been in the news this week or anything. They’ve only announced some small gigs along with appearances on a few of the Late Night shows (Letterman, Kimmel), then killed it across the pond on Jools Holland before announcing a bigger tour for 2013 and have kept this writer busy posting stories about all that stuff here at Concert Confessions. All kidding aside, one of the best parts about writing for Concert Confessions besides the awesome folks involved in the project or having the opportunity to play journalist on the internet is the freedom to post about bands you love. It’s great to not have to read emails about how the “sharing of music” doesn’t involve a band you like, but some buzz band that doesn’t own a guitar, Thom Yorke‘s latest DJ set, etc.
Back to Soundgarden, the band was on David Letterman tonight (11/12) and with performing on the Late Show we have ourselves a ‘Live on Letterman’ webcast which went down at 8PM on the East Coast. The performance: Stellar. Soundgarden isn’t a reunion, it’s a continuation of something that was on hold for a little while. The band killed it, hitting us with heavy doses of King Animal their new record due out Tuesday(11/13) along with some essential older hits like Beyond The Wheel and Fell On Black Days(every time I hear that song it takes me back to the Gorge). The setlist, along with the full performance is below . They played “Been Away Too Long” on the CBS Televison broadcast. That video is also below, and that’s courtesy of The Audio Perv
