The 5th annual Golden Gods Awards hit the Club Nokia in Los Angeles on May 2nd. This was an award show specifically for rock and metal alike. Basically what the Grammys should be, but aren't. This was my 1st time attending an awards show so it was definitely interesting and something new. The show was dedicated to Slayer co-founder and guitarist Jeff Hanneman that had passed away earlier that day.
There were lots of surprises this night as well as the awards themselves. ... Read More

The Metal Alliance tour was phenomenal. This took place at the world famous House of Blues in Hollywood, Ca. The lineup consisted of thrash metal legends Anthrax, Exodus, High on Fire, Municipal Waste, and Holy Grail.
Due to the show starting so early and obviously short on time from coming home from work from a traffic jam because of an accident plus driving to LA which there was another accident on the road,
I missed all the bands except for Exodus and Anthrax. Right ... Read More

2012 has got to be one of the best year's for me to go to concerts. There's bands I had never seen before but have wanted to, bands I hadn't seen in 2-3 years, and even bands I thought wouldn't come around again for a long time.

Volbeat @ House of Blues Lake Buena Vista, Florida 05/29/12
With Eye Empire and Gorillafight
Words by Ronman
Up until just several weeks ago, I had no idea who Volbeat was. No clue. A friend of mine turned me onto this Danish Metal act. This friend of mine has been absolutely geeking out on this band, so I had to give them a listen. As it turned out, their song, "Warrior's Call", has been getting some serious air time on WJRR, our local rock station. I had heard the ... Read More

Anthrax with Death Angel and Testament

I'm not going to bore you with the history of Anthrax. For that you can go to Wikipedia.
I will say that after the departure of lead singer, Joey Belladonna in '92, I was really no longer a fan. For me, it was kind of like when David Lee Roth was out of Van Halen, the magic was gone. The difference being, Van Halen went on to be an even ... Read More

My phone was hounded by texts all day with people trying to figure out where I was at the Big 4 concert in Indio. As the resident metal head of Concert Confessions, it makes sense that I would be deep in the desert for Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica. While I am sure the Big 4 was an amazing time, it simply wasn’t in the cards for me. Instead of seeing metal history, I ... Read More

I had no intention of even going to this concert until I found out that my friend's band was the opener. I got free tickets!
Ratt. They were big in the 80's. I was a huge fan of their "Out of The Cellar" LP. "Round And Round", "Lack Of Communication", "Back For More", "Wanted Man", all great tunes. That was 1984. Their next effort, "Invasion Of Your Privacy" was a bit light for my tastes as I had since discovered Anthrax and Metallica. ... Read More

In the deep trenches of confusion over guest lists vs. will call along with a “black” carpet ceremony, I was informed that my press credentials were at the VIP table. So I head into to the clusterfuck that is the VIP area outside Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles when I became the meat of a rock royalty sandwich. ... Read More

Biohazard & Suicidal Tendencies
The Palladium - Hollywood, CA 03/28/09
Words/Photos/Videos by Reverend Justito/concertconfessions.c0m
Walking into the Hollywood Palladium just past 9pm on Saturday night, my heart was split 50/50. The left side had hope, the right side was full of natural fear. After all, this is LA and Suicidal Tendencies are about to throw down in their home town. I had high hopes for violence, mayhem, disorderly conduct, nudity, a bit more violence, a few beers and of course a few good tunes serving ... Read More

The Key Club in Hollywood is always (in our opinion) the best place to see a Metal show. The Security is cool, the food and drink is delectable (though they recently shortened and changed their dinner menu) and there isn’t a bad spot to stand in to see the mayhem that takes stage. Matt & I have been here many, many times and it’s usually busy. Rarely have there been shows that have been light in attendance. The show for Armored Saint ... Read More
