Randall’s Island in New York City rocks it with the Governors Ball annually. This year is no different. Outkast, Jack White, Vampire Weekend and The Strokes top the first tier of acts. Festival staples in 2014 Childish Gambino, Sleigh Bells. Chance The Rapper, The Naked And Famous and Foster The People can be seen along the likes of TV On The Radio, Skrillex, Interpol, Phoenix, Disclosure, Diarrhea Planet, Kurt Vile, Damon Albarn, Neko Case, along with the rap duo Run The Jewels (Big Mike/El-P).
It all goes down June 6th-8th in the greatest city in the world. Grab tickets when they’re on sale at www.GovBall.Com.
The lead singer from Interpol, Paul Banks made an appearance on David Letterman Last Night to perform a song called “Young Again” off his latest solo effort. But that’s not the story here, it’s the eerie empty sounds of the Ed Sullivan Theater as there was nobody in the crowd braving the storm. There was nobody to laugh at any of Dave’s jokes while introducing Banks, and after the song ended there was no roar, no nothing. A very interesting video indeed, and it comes courtesy of the Audio Perv. Check it out
This weekend I am heading out to the 2010 KROQ Weenie Roast. In honor of seeing wonderful artists including Against Me!, Stone Temple Pilots, Deftones and that cute ginger kid who just flashed her boobies on Twitter, I figured I would share some photos from my first trip to the KROQ Weenie Roast back in 2007 (long before I was regularly writing concert reviews). I hope you enjoy – and of course you can expect full coverage of the 2010 event here early next week.
It is no accident that i love taking pictures. in fact i graduated with a Graphics Arts Degree and worked in the advertising field for a time. though i make my living as a state employee my love for picture taking has never waivered. To “compose” a concert photograph and be given a few seconds to do it, is a challenge that i want in order to get that ultimate shot that is so rewarding. Now! i am not a professional photographer (i wish). i just have some knowledge and do have ideas as to what i want to capture. thank god for these digital cameras for they are so tiny but powerfull and that most venues and artists gave up the fight to banned them from concerts. Here are some of my faves.
