Words and Pictures By: Bradley Darby
I sure as hell hope The Pageant’s insurance is up to date..... because following the three night-seven set weekend to close out 2011 and ring in 2012, there is no doubt that Umphreys McGee blew the roof off the place! If you have never seen Umphreys McGee, you should do yourself a favor and make it a point to catch a show. The band can’t be ... Read More
Dec 27, 2011
Well folks, it is that time of year, when all the crew at Concert Confessions take our best concert memories of 2011 and sum them up into the 10 best shows of the year. I must say, I have been dragging my feet on this one, even more than my tardiness of the 20 plus reviews I still must write. 2011 has been a year of many ups and downs for me and can be considered a fucking hellride ... Ring in 2012 with Umphreys McGee in St. Louis
Words by Bradley Darby
For the first time in their 13 plus year existence, Chicago progressive rockers Umphreys McGee take their end of the year party on the road and bring their annual New Years shindig to St. Louis to close out 2011 and ring in 2012 with a 3 night run at The Pageant. Last Halloween the boys spent two nights at The Pageant for their Monster Mashup, and many consider those shows (especially ... Read More

2011 was a year of many ups and downs and a lot of very unique and diverse shows of which I feel lucky and blessed to partaked in. And hey, nobody died this year. So moving on to number 10.
Number 10: Prof, 08/17/11 The Pageant, Saint Louis, Mo
Prof had impressed me quite a bit the early part of 2011 with a strong performance and a free cd that didn't suck. A few months later he was back opening for Atmosphere, Evidence, and ... Read More

Voodoo Music Experience 10/29/11:
City Park - New Orleans, LA
Words/Photos by Reverend Justito
There is something to be said for having an adventure thousands of miles from home. My latest just happened to be a Saturday spent at City Park in New Orleans, LA. For years I have heard of the Voodoo Music Experience yet living 2000 miles away it’s not the easiest festival to attend. While my original plans for all three days fell through, I was able to at least take in ... Read More

Bumbershoot Music Festival 09/04/11
Seattle, WA
Words/Photos by Jakobross424
Bumbershoot, Seattle's family friendly labor day weekend festival that usually hosts big names, decided that this year they would give local bands a chance to shine. Last year's headliners were Weezer, Bob Dylan, and Mary J. Blige. This year's headliners are Ray LaMontagne, Wiz Khalifa, and Hall and Oates. Since there were very few bands on the lineup that I actually wanted to see, I decided not to go this year. That all changed when I ... Read More

For the fourth consecutive year I made the trek to the Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival to enjoy four days of music and camping in a setting that they call “Where Music Meets Mother Nature.” With acts ranging from My Morning Jacket and Ben Harper to the Budos Band and Dark Star Orchestra to STS9 and Bassnectar, a total of over 100 bands spread out across six stages, with on-site camping, showers, and even a grocery store ... ECHO PARK RISING 2011
Words/Photos by Reverend Justito
I am not one of the individuals who remember the Sunset Junction as a small community gathering of Silver Lake locals. I know Sunset Junction as a gathering of inebriated individuals from all over Southern California looking to enjoy some music and overpriced churros in the hot summer sun. It had been a few years since I participated in the all day bash, and I was very much looking forward to the 2011 edition. USELESS KEYS, ... Read More

Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival 08/14/11
Golden Gate Park - San Francisco, CA
Words/Photos by Reverend Justito
After a wonderful breakfast with my parents, my crew and I were en route to the city for the final day of Outside Lands. A weird day in the sense that I only wanted to see three bands (of course two were at the same time), but the two I wanted to see were the biggest draws at the festival for me not named Phish. With hardly ... Read More

Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival 08/13/11
Golden Gate Park - San Francisco, CA
Words/Photos by Reverend Justito
With plenty of bands I wanted to catch spread across Golden Gate Park for the Saturday section of the 2011 Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival, you could compare my experience to that of a pinball. I bounced from stage to stage (and porta-potty to porta-potty) all day catching bits of performances from as many artists as I could.

Golden Gate Park - San Francisco, CA
Words/Photos by Reverend Justito
Over the past few years, I have come home to the Bay Area on Outside Lands weekend. Yet instead of watching historic performances by the likes of Pearl Jam, Widespread Panic and Ween I have watched friends get married. With no nuptials planned for 2011 I purchased my three day pass the second they went on sale.

Words/Photos by Reverend Justito
I moved to Los Angeles just shy of a decade ago. Before moving down here I was as Bay Area as it comes. The use of the word hella was still our thing. I didn’t eat meat, enjoyed public transportation and went green back in the late 80’s. I knew I was moving to a whole new world, but nothing could have prepared me for that first 18 months living ... The Summer Slaughter Tour 07/22/11 House of Blues – West Hollywood, CA Words/Photos by Reverend Justito
If I ever have a moment where my life flashes before my eyes, I look forward to revisiting July 22nd, 2011. I ran into Grace Potter on the streets of Hollywood. I got a bunch of great vinyl from Amoeba Records and I was lucky enough to score a ticket to the kickoff of the 2011 Summer Slaughter Tour. Yes, July 22nd was much better than the ... Read More
