Well folks, I have encountered this question many times in the last couple months, “Hey Phishbeard, why do you go to so many shows, but haven’t posted reviews to everything you have seen?”. My answer to that question is hard to truly justify. I have been without my laptop for some time now and often I am on the road for numerous days before I even get a chance to sit down at a computer. Coupled with my ... Read More

Grouplove Pay Jimmy Kimmel Live A Visit
We here at Concert Confessions have been trying to see Grouplove for a while. As you may recall, our founder Reverend Justito attempted to catch the band on the Pan Handle stage at the 2011 Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival. However with a massive crowd assembled at the solar powered stage, he couldn’t even get close enough to hear the band let alone see them. Then our youngest and quite possibly brightest contributor Jakob Ross caught ... Read More

On Monday, St. Vincent stopped by Conan on a night where Kate Beckinsale's hotness almost blew up my television. Another artist that will be at Coachella 2012 they were introduced and strummed a few chords of an Elvis Costello-ish sounding tune. Then, just when it's about to break Annie Erin Clark waves her hands in the air demanding the band stop. She then says into the mic "I'm sorry ladies and gentleman, there is no ... Read More

The War On Drugs Invade Late Night With Jimmy Fallon
In a world where you can't quite keep up with every band, you try to at least keep up with the ones that have really cool names. That was the case last night when this writer tuned into Jimmy Fallon last night to catch The War On Drugs play a song called "Baby Missiles".
With two keyboardists, some strumming of guitar with a harmonica and ?uestlove helping out as a second drummer, the above ... Read More

12.29/12.30/12.31 - Umphreys McGee at The Pageant - St. Louis, MO
Words and Pictures By: Bradley Darby
I sure as hell hope The Pageant’s insurance is up to date..... because following the three night-seven set weekend to close out 2011 and ring in 2012, there is no doubt that Umphreys McGee blew the roof off the place! If you have never seen Umphreys McGee, you should do yourself a favor and make it a point to catch a show. The band can’t be ... Read More

As 2011 reaches a close, we take a look back at the year in concerts. In volume, I probably attend the least amount of total shows per year if you pool all of the contributors here at Concert Confessions. But never the less, by years end I will have reached 23 concerts, eclipsing last years total of 20. My only personal goal is to always get out to more shows then the year before. We did that in 2011, and here's hoping ... Read More

For the first time in their 13 plus year existence, Chicago progressive rockers Umphreys McGee take their end of the year party on the road and bring their annual New Years shindig to St. Louis to close out 2011 and ring in 2012 with a 3 night run at The Pageant. Last Halloween the boys spent two nights at The Pageant for their Monster Mashup, and many consider those shows (especially ... Read More

There aren't very many artists whose catalogues I know by heart - and I don't just mean "heard all of the songs and have all of the CDs", but "know every word and memorized every breakdown and transition". For me, Matt Nathanson is one of of those artists. Even though he toured extensively on his 2007 release Some Mad Hope, I somehow managed to miss seeing Matt headline a show since his dual-headliner with Carbon ... Read More

The 62nd Edition of the Jay Porks Never Ending Concert Series is a special one indeed for a couple of reasons. One, we're heading out to the Bowery Electric (Joey Ramone Pl & 3rd St) down in the East Village for a charity event benefiting the Toys for Tots Foundation( ) featuring the musical styling of Joseph Arthur (and opener James Maddock). Never a bad thing to gain some good karma. Second reason this is special, it's because I've officially taken a ... Read More

String Cheese Incident’s Roots Run Deep Tour at The Pageant - 12/7/2011
Words and Pictures by Bradley Darby
The String Cheese Incident has been doing their thing for almost 20 years (with a break here or there) in the jam community, blending Colorado progressive bluegrass with psychedelic rock, funk, and jam music. They have accumulated quite a large following of loyal fans which makes it difficult to get tickets to many shows, especially when the show in question is one of the more ... Read More

SK6ers & Jon McLaughlin at The Duck Room (Blueberry Hill) St. Louis, MO - 11/29/11

For the past 9 years, Stephen Kellogg has been touring the country with his blend of country-glazed alt rock... usually as Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers, where he wreks havoc on cities with 3 of his friends in tow, and sometimes just flying solo. One thing remains the same though, no matter which form of Kellogg you are seeing.... the energy of the ... Read More

On the wild ride that is life as an amateur rock journalist, Blitzen Trapper has served as my training wheels for much of the journey. A long time ago (a little over three years to be exact) a major network in the Viacom family sent me to Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, CA to shoot the band. While I had taken plenty of photos at shows, I had never been sent ... Read More
