Once again, winter is upon us and the month of December has come and gone. Certain things are as dependable as clockwork during this time of year. The days get shorter, the temperature drops, and the world around us is inundated (for better or worse) with non-stop holiday themed decorations and music.
Another significant thing happens as the year draws to a close: a group of highly talented Saint Louis musicians join together like a giant inflatable ... Read More

Quixotic Fusion will be performing with MarchFourth Marching Band for a few special Halloween Balls across the midwest. The three city trek will hit Lawrence, KS at Liberty Hall on Oct 28, St. Louis, MO at The Pageant on Oct 29 and Springfield, MO at Gillioz Theatre on Halloween night. These two groups define the term “performance art” and both bands feature some damn talented musicians as well, this will be a spectacle NOT to be missed!

Mary Magdalan featuring OLOM, Young London, and FreeSol
Webster Hall-New York, NY
Words/Photos by LexC
Knowing this show was at Webster Hall I decided to pregame a little bit. Their prices are ridiculous and even if I had the money I wouldn’t pay for drinks. Even a bottle of water is about five dollars. I also needed to waste some time because ended up in the city earlier than planned. So I stopped off at my favorite bar downtown, a little Irish place named Biddy ... Read More

Until about a month ago, I had no idea who Starfucker (STRFKR) was. I have, however, learned two important lessons when it comes to discovering new music: (1) Never judge a band until you see them play live and (2) Always trust thenaturalstoner for music advice. So, I spent the past month listening to Starfucker’s self-titled debut album and their newest release, Reptilians, to prepare myself for this show.
I met TNS and a couple of other friends over in Pullman. We had ... Read More

I'm not a big fan of hitting up local band shows. Or to use a cliche I don't "support the local metal scene." There are many reasons including the fact that I am poor and have to choose my events carefully. I've had times that after paying a $10 cover was disappointed. This is not always the ... Read More

Prior to the Sasquatch! Festival I had created a preview for this site, and a couple of days later I am ready to look back and see how I did. Lots of moving and shaking going on in the table below.
It appears that the biggest surprise of the weekend for me was Major Lazer and the biggest drops were The Flaming Lips and Iron and Wine.

First, let me go ahead and get the rabid fanboyism out of the way now: I am a huge Pink Floyd nerd. Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin were the first two bands that I really loved, the first two bands whose entire catalogue I had to own, and Dark Side of the Moon was maybe the first album that I memorized from beginning to end as a kid.
It is, needless to say, a little bit of a disappointment that I was born ... Read More

Triple Bordego 02/17/11
TRiP - Santa Monica, CA
Words/Photos by Reverend Justito
It has been a few months since I have checked in with Triple Bordego. Over the past few years they have been regulars at TRiP in Santa Monica, and with nothing to do on a Thursday night I headed down the hill to check their headline set. Hitting the tiny stage at just past 9:15, the band unleashed an hour long set of their unique brand of pop-punk jams upon a packed bar.

USELESS KEYS 02/03/11
The Satellite - Silver Lake, CA
Words/Photos by Reverend Justito/concertconfessions.com
I don’t make it out to Silver Lake very often. After all, it’s hard to look sweet and innocent in front of a judge when the charge is forced sodomy with a tall boy of PBR against an East Hollywood hipster. Fact is I only made it to 1717 Silver Lake Blvd once when it was called Spaceland; and the only reason why I went was to check out metal-friendly Dax Riggs. ... Read More

As you may recall, back in April I headed down to TRiP in Santa Monica to check out my former co-workers band, Triple Bordego. I am glad to report that my former co-worker is not only my co-worker once again, but he gave me permission to share the bands gig at TRiP last week with you. The four piece band found themselves opening for a Burlesque Show, and managed to win over a ... Read More

Rusted Soul Revue 04/29/10
The Libertine - West Hollywood, CA
words/photos/videos by concertconfessions.com
For about 18 months, Rusted Soul Revue vocalist/lead guitarist TD Moyer was my own Snuffleupagus. My pal/guitarist Shawn Hitchcock swore up and down that he existed – much like Big Bird told his neighbors for years. While the Sesame Street gang finally did meet Snuffy in the fall of 1985, I met TD last July 4th weekend, walking around the streets of Long Beach (or as we call it – the land ... Read More

TRiP Lounge - Santa Monica, CA

I should probably just get it out in the open that I am typing this from the former cubical of one of the members of Triple Bordego. For years, I would get e-mails saying “hey man, my band is playing” and for years I would say “dude, I really want to go, but band XXX is in town and I already have tix.” Finally, our two paths came together, as the underground ... Whiskey A Go Go - West Hollywood, CA
Words/Photos/Video by concertconfessions.com
I seem to recall that it was Easter weekend 1999 (I could be totally wrong) when my friends and I made our monthly trip to the Cactus Club in San Jose to see local favorites Papa Roach. Only this night was very different as we would finally get a chance a band out of Southern California that P-Roach had been raving about for months. That band was Alien Ant Farm, ... Read More

Chances are, no matter where you live in the world, you have heard of the world-famous Whiskey A Go-Go on the Sunset Strip. Anyone who loves music and drives down the strip for the first time will undoubtedly get goosebumps when their eyes focus on the landmark where the likes of Motley Crue and The Doors got their start. However, these goose bumps quickly fade away when one learns the truth regarding the Whiskey. Inside the walls, it is not ... Read More

USELESS KEYS 01/08/10
The Viper Room - West Hollywood, CA
Words/Photos/Video by Reverend Justito
Often times in Los Angeles, music fans blow off opening acts and only show up for the main event. On the second Friday of 2010, I did the exact opposite. Last summer when I walked in on USELESS KEYS’ set closer at The Roxy, I was so impressed I promised myself I would seek them out again. Not one to break a promise, the Los Angeles-based band’s set at the Viper ... Read More

Alterknit Lounge @ Knitting Factory - Hollywood, CA
Words/Photos/Videos by Justin
Just nine short subway stops from the venue where the shocking conclusion of American Idol was held, two unknown bands were being judged by a much smaller, but just as important audience. As I walked into A&R Knight inside the Alterknit Lounge @ Knitting Factory Hollywood, I was greeted to the sounds of five young men who call themselves Misdelphia. Hailing from San Diego, I caught the last two songs ... Read More

A Night to Remember
By: Jen Bonfiglio
Thursday, March 19, I was so excited to head down to one of my favorite venues, BackBooth. In my opinion, it is one of the best places to see a show. My friends and I have been looking forward to this night for more than a month. The lineup was awesome: In Violent Times, Hydrosonic, Awestruck, and The Rise of Defiance. These are some of the best local bands around right now. I couldn’t wait for it ... Read More
