As some of you may know, I am a HUGE fan of the San Francisco Giants baseball club. As a fan of the Giants it meant that for years, I hated future Hall of Fame pitcher Randy Johnson and his team the Arizona Diamondbacks. I of course was thrilled when he picked the Giants to finish his career with. However, today’s post is not about baseball, it’s about the six-foot-ten pitcher's post baseball career as a rock photographer.
That’s right, it turns out the ... Read More

Fistful of Mercy's Live Debut Stops Traffic
You have to check this out. As some of you may know, Joseph Arthur, Ben Harper and Dhani Harrison (honorable mention to the lovely Jessy Greene on violin) have formed a brand spankin' new band called Fistful of Mercy. The band performed their first "gig" last night at Easy Street Records in Seattle (fine store I may add) and let's just say things got a bit out of control. How out of control you ask? Check out ... Dear Phish,
On behalf of your West Coast fans, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my rotten heart for once again dicking us over. I get it, you have families, you want the easy paycheck, but for the love of God would it kill you to give the West Coast a little love? If my count is right, at the end of this fall tour, Phish Version 3.0 will have played 125 shows. Of those 125 shows, only 9 ... Read More

Yo Gabba Gabba! Rocks Kids With MGMT
As a 31 year old man with no kids (at least that I am aware of), I would have never heard of Yo Gabba Gabba! had it not been for our wonderful webmaster. His mini-me is a huge fan of the Nick Jr. program and upon a visit to their estate on the central coast the two of them managed to get me hooked.
When it comes to MGMT, I am not sure if our webmaster and ... Read More

I am not going to come out here and act as if I am a giant fan of the Vandals. I don’t even own a record of the band. I have however in my 16+ years of concert going had the pleasure to see the band live twice and allow me to say they sure as hell deliver upon the stage. That is enough for me to hopefully help them out in a nasty war that has consumed their lives over the ... Read More

Listen to Blitzen Trapper
Live at the 2010 Newport Folk Festival For Free
A little over two years ago, a network that was once known for playing music videos sent me out to a day long music festival at Universal Studios Hollywood. They had one mission for me – take as many photos of an up and coming band based out of Portland Oregon. That band was Blitzen Trapper. My initial reaction to the group was Bob Dylan backed by Modest Mouse covering Wilco.

What can I say, we here at Concert Confessions are a big fan of Atticus. Not only do they have great t-shirts, they named their company after my lil stinker.. OK, that’s a lie, the same name is just a coincidence, but it was an awesome excuse to post his cute kittie mug on this here website. Oh and of course it was an excuse to share with you ... Read More

Axl Rose vs. 500,000 Bikers: G'n'R Set To Headline Rock 'N Rev
Rock ‘N Rev – the festival that was rumored to be cancelled just weeks ago has perhaps pulled off the headlining coup of the summer. That is of course if you like headliners who are 1/5th the band they used to be.
With an already impressive lineup of red state rock bands (Godsmack, Three Doors Down, Creed) coming to Sturgis to play for a bunch mad men (and women) on motorcycles, the ... Read More

While I was by the beach in Ventura celebrating one of the greatest publicists on the planets 31st birthday, our pal Johnny Firecloud from Antiquiet.com was braving triple digit heat to witness the live debut of the Zack De La Rocha/Jon Theodore collaboration – One Day As A Lion.
You can read all about the show here.

Coheed Covers The Smiths: Travis & Claudio vs. Morrissey & Johnny
AV Club has an on-going web series where twenty-five bands are covering twenty-five songs found on a list that someone somewhere over there made up. The latest instalment of this series features Travis and Claudio from Coheed and Cambria taking a shot at "A Rush And A Push And The Land Is Ours” by The Smiths. As the band mentions in the video, the song is dedicated to their manager.

David Gilmour & Roger Waters Unite in the United Kingdom
I received a text late yesterday from our very own TheNaturalStoner. It simply said:
“David Gilmour and Roger Waters reunited last night. 4 songs at some benefit!”
Indeed, the famously feuding duo came together and performed some classics in front of an audience of 200 well off music lovers at Kidlington in Oxfordshire, England. Per various websites including Rock It Out! Blog - the event raised £350,000 for the charity
Accoding to PinkFloydz.com - no recordings ... Read More

Phish wrapped up the first leg of their 2010 summer tour with two smoking shows down south in Atlanta Georgia. Leg one of the recently reunited bands tour featured three key themes: Great new songs (Dr. Gabel is my favorite so far), crazy rare bust outs (including Alumni Blues/Letter To Jimmy Page and the first Fuck Your Face since 1987) and the craziest amount of random covers since 1988 (The Beatles, Neutral Milk Hotel and Tom Waits have all had their songs ... It breaks my heart to report that 10 dates of the recently revived Rockstar Energy Drink Lilith Fair (oh wait, I am sorry, Rockstar does not sponsor Lilith, that’s Mayhem) have been cancelled. I could attempt to write some jokes (like the failed Rockstar Energy Drink one you just read), or I could let Mr. Johnny Firecloud from Antiquiet.com share his thoughts on the once ground breaking chick-fest.
Oh, and for the record, my personal take is that folks are sick of seeing ... Read More

As a lifelong fan of The Smashing Pumpkins, I had no desire to check the band out last night at The Viper Room here in Southern California. I saw them headline Lollapalooza 94. I’ve watched them in arenas and theatres and even saw their first performance at Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit back in 1998. I even enjoyed the reunited bands two night stand at the end of 2008 here in Los Angeles.
So when my man Jerko tweeted last night that Mr. ... Read More

Clearly, I should have spent the weekend in Luxembourg instead of Ventura. Somewhere in that pint-sized nation was an event called the Rock-A-Field Festival. Not only did it feature the #1 band Concert Confessions would like to see play in America again, but those lucky Luxembourgers (is that a real word? Fuck it – it is now) were treated to Lil Miss Hayley Williams of Paramore rocking “Passenger” with Deftones.
Sure, she may not be Maynard, but she has a much nice set of ... Read More

Little did I know that so many of them would flock to the crime infested shithole know as the Los Angeles Coliseum for two days of craptastic electronic jams (and Deadmau5, who I like because he has a cool head). Editors note: If you enjoy Passion Pit, or just lack a sense of humor - go read about the KYUSS reunion or something.
As if the electric/pop powerhouse of pussies known as Passion Pit were not craptastic enough on their own – the putrid preppies from Cambridge Mass have decided to piss in our ears with a cover of Tonight, Tonight by The Smashing Pumpkins. Now, I know what you are saying, it’s not front man Michael Angelakos fault that he had his ... Read More
