On Saturday February 2nd, the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, California was completely demolished by 2 of the biggest thrash metal bands, Testament and Overkill. The crowd reacted really well to both bands as there were non-stop mosh pits and there were crowd surfers the whole night. In one area people would be moshing, and somewhere else there’d be people crowd surfing. I’m sure security had their hands full with everyone on the floor as they had to continuously grab crowd ... With Eye Empire and Gorillafight
Words by Ronman
Up until just several weeks ago, I had no idea who Volbeat was. No clue. A friend of mine turned me onto this Danish Metal act. This friend of mine has been absolutely geeking out on this band, so I had to give them a listen. As it turned out, their song, "Warrior's Call", has been getting some serious air time on WJRR, our local rock station. I had heard the ... Read More

It was not just any Saturday night on the Sunset Strip, it was Cinco de Mayo. America’s version of El Día de la Batalla de Puebla or as alcoholics prefer to call it Amateur Night. You can always tell it is going to be a good night when vomit is flowing down the boulevard long before sun sets upon Sunset. There is a good energy in Los Angeles ... Read More

I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of a better way to spend Good Friday Eve then with a quadruple shot of detuned death metal action. The line for the sold out House of Blues Sunset show wrapped around the block long before the doors opened with fans ready to mosh the night away. Once doors opened, the building buzzed ... Read More

I have a shocking confession to make. For a brief period in time I lied and claimed I had seen The Darkness when they played at The Roxy. It was silly I know, but I just wanted to be cool. By dumb luck I was out of town when The Darkness returned and played the Fonda and then they broke up and my dream ... Read More

I have talked a lot of shit about O.A.R. By a lot of shit, I mean trolled the message boards known as O.A.R. fans for years. Most of my shit talking took place in off topic forums, but I made my distaste for the group’s music well known. So when I say I talked a lot of shit about O.A.R., I am talking years of trolling. I'm not going to bore you with the history of Anthrax. For that you can go to Wikipedia.
I will say that after the departure of lead singer, Joey Belladonna in '92, I was really no longer a fan. For me, it was kind of like when David Lee Roth was out of Van Halen, the magic was gone. The difference being, Van Halen went on to be an even ... Read More

I had no intention of even going to this concert until I found out that my friend's band was the opener. I got free tickets!
Ratt. They were big in the 80's. I was a huge fan of their "Out of The Cellar" LP. "Round And Round", "Lack Of Communication", "Back For More", "Wanted Man", all great tunes. That was 1984. Their next effort, "Invasion Of Your Privacy" was a bit light for my tastes as I had since discovered Anthrax and Metallica. ... Read More

Standing up against the bar alongside stage left inside Hollywood’s House Of Blues Thursday night, I was distracted from the on stage action by a young man who fit the exact description of a heavy metal stereotype: A young Latino with long fluffy hair, black denim jeans, a faded leather jacket and 1980’s white ...
